A horrifying case out of Texas has led to the arrest of a 32-year-old mother after her own son called 911 and reported that she believed he was the devil and was burning their family dogs. The call came in around 1 p.m. on May 17, prompting an immediate response from Rusk County sheriff’s deputies to the family’s home in Henderson, approximately 140 miles southeast of Dallas. The initial 911 call was quickly followed by another from a nearby address, where a woman arrived with blood on her hands claiming her parents had been killed. That woman turned out to be the same mother, who had driven from the original residence with her four children, all under the age of 12, still in the vehicle.

When law enforcement reached the scene, the children’s grandparents were present. As deputies interviewed the couple, the mother pulled up in her vehicle, rolled down the passenger-side window, and began screaming for help, claiming someone was trying to kill her. Her parents rushed to retrieve the children from the car while a deputy attempted to de-escalate the situation. According to the official affidavit, the mother displayed signs of paranoia, was sweating excessively, and breathing abnormally fast.

During questioning, she admitted to killing the family’s two dogs — and confessed that she had done it in front of her young children. Deputies discovered the remains of the dogs burning in a fire pit at the front of the home. The scene confirmed the boy’s terrifying claims and led to her immediate arrest.

Authorities charged the woman with two felony counts of animal cruelty and four counts of endangering a child. She is being held on a $400,000 bond. Child Protective Services has launched a separate investigation into the children’s welfare, who were fortunately unharmed but traumatized by the events they witnessed.
