How about a visit to Stockholm, Wisconsin? Mom and I made a stop in this tiny town on the way to my photo appointment last weekend. It is situated on the Mississippi River. There are only a few buildings along the main road into town. We arrived early, so parking was available on the main street and the photo above was taken right by where we parked. I’m a bit short for the wings but Mom and I made it work for a photo anyway.
Up on the hill into town there is a scenic overlook. We pulled off and had a look upstream. It is amazing how wide the river is!
Then I had a look downstream, so much water! It really looks more like a lake than a river.
The park benches help you to not wonder where you are.
We went out on the peninsula and had a look at the river from water level.
Here is another view from the water level down stream. Let’s call this one Nelson on the rocks.
This is a view of the scenic overlook where we were from down at water level. It is a nice birds eye view from up there.
Everyone likes driftwood, right? How about this driftwood!
One has to see the roots on this driftwood too.
Back in town we found the post office, kind of a cute little spot.
We also found Stockholm Pie & General Store. This place is really well known for their award winning pies. It sounds like their ice cream is also pretty tasty.
I will leave you at the entrance to the pie shop. It isn’t open early I guess but we didn’t need anything to eat anyway. Just seeing the place that we have heard a lot about was our main goal. That is a wrap for Stockholm, Wisconsin!
I’m joining my friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard for their Nature Friday blog hop.
