Saturday was a mommy and me day with shopping at dog friendly Scheels, and then a walk at Bryant Lake Regional Park. Mom has been to the dog park in the winter, but never the actual park.
The first thing we found out is that they don’t plow the walking trails and most of the parking lots are not plowed either. It didn’t stop us as there isn’t a ton of snow and there are plenty of trampled trails to walk on.
No surprise, Mom had us walking at the beach area. No dogs allowed but she said it doesn’t apply to us in the winter and no one is there to stop us anyway. So, off we went wandering the beach and picnic area.
The lake is still frozen but there were not many people crazy enough to go out on it, thankfully. With the warm weather we had for a few days, who knows how the ice is. Most likely those going on the ice will be swimming in the water rather than fishing on some ice.
Not much was happening at the boat launch area either. It truly is nice to go to the beach in the winter when I can be on the beach and no one is around. We are not fans of crowds.
Next we headed along the beach towards the woods where there is a trail under the snow. Is anyone interested in paddle boating? I think I have found all the paddle boats if you would like one.
We continued up the hill to another picnic area. What we really would like to know is, do people really use all the picnic areas at this park? It seems like way too many to us!
Well, that is about the extent of our walking at the beach and in the woods. Maybe we will come back some day when the trails are not snow covered and see how that is. For now, it was a fun time and we headed off to Gramma’s house to get some snacks and warm up. Oh yes, I almost forgot, my beard seemed to be a real snow magnet at this park!
