Nelson and I are happy vehicle sniffers. All of us are usually good at vehicle searches, but for some reason, Mom doesn’t like them at all. Today we are sharing some of the photos we just received from our Vehicle Element Trials back in June. Some are simply pretty photos, others are funny, and some show some interesting techniques. We purchased these photos from our favorite photographer, Caprise Adams, for our personal use.
Mom and I love this one showing my focus off the start line and she knows she will be running right behind her turbo sniffer! The GoPro is around Mom’s neck, and we have a good video of this search on a post from June. In Level 3 Vehicles, it is an unknown number of hides between zero and three, so I need to find the hide(s) or lack of, and communicate it to my teammate, Mom.
Here it is on the trailer hitch. A very easy hide and the only one in this search which had two vehicles. I earned second place in this search too.
We had four searches in this trial. One of the other ones with good photos is the antique tractor. My nose is always working at trials as I never know when I might catch a whiff of the odor.
Here is the old beauty, I mean the tractor, not my mom. I prefer to take the shortest route to the odor which meant under this old tractor. Mom has to hang onto my leash, but you can’t see her in the photo.
Ah ha, here it is. Note my eyes so intent on the find. I can bend in really strange ways to get myself directly on odor.
Finally Mom shows up, just in time to pay me with some delicious treats. I earned my L3V Title, so I’m all done with that element now.
Nelson did a Level Two Vehicle search the same day in the morning. Mom wore green for him the day before, so she wore orange for me this day. Nelson didn’t mind as he understands why she wears which color. She still wears the correct colored treat pouch, though. He got off to a good start searching this little machine and finding the wheel hide.
Sniffing from the start is also something Nelson likes to do. At the level two, you know how many hides there are, so he was only looking for one on the boat and trailer.
Here he goes, sniffing around the trailer hitch area for a hide.
Yes, the little guy found the hide and heard the “alert”, “yes”, and is priming his taste buds for snacks.
Never forget, with Nelson, it is always all about the snacks! Nelson missed one hide in one of the searches, so he didn’t get a title. He did get a leg. Hopefully he will get to try again and finish off that title the next time.
