I’ve got some cool tips for the Dog Days of Summer which start today, July 3rd and run through August 11th. The Dog Days are typically the hottest and most humid days of the summer, something we dogs typically dread. What can you do to keep your dog safe and happy?
- Never leave a dog unattended in a hot car!
- Keep your dog in the A/C when possible.
- If you have a water dog, swimming is a good activity
- Provide plenty of fresh water, we like Ethos water since we are all Ethos hounds.
- Don’t let your pup drink from puddles or community bowls as they often spread disease.
- Take your longer walks early in the morning.
- Set up a fan for your dog.
- Serve up cooled or frozen treats.
- Just as humans in the heat, dogs may not have as big of an appetite as usual.
If you love heat and humidity, I wish you a wonderful time in the Dog Days of Summer. We will do our best to stay in the house as it is not our thing at all.
