Dublin the Helpful Dog Charms Internet With Her “Carry-It-Home” Habit
A six-year-old mixed breed named Dublin has become an online star after her adorable routine of carrying items home went viral on Reddit. Shared by her owner, TJ (u/Tjwell), in the r/aww subreddit on August 27, the photos have already gathered more than 25,000 upvotes and hundreds of comments from delighted viewers.

Dublin, a Rottweiler–Chow Chow–Great Pyrenees mix, takes great pride in holding all sorts of things in her mouth—cereal boxes, bags of treats, toys, and more. According to TJ, the tradition started when she was a puppy and insisted on carrying bones and treats from the pet store. One day, after nudging their shopping bag until allowed to pick something herself, she decided the job was hers permanently. “From then on, she decided it was her job to carry something back. Now she won’t leave without it,” TJ explained.

Her heritage may play a role in the quirky behavior. Great Pyrenees and Rottweilers are working breeds historically valued for guarding and assisting, while Chow Chows are intelligent and loyal. Dublin seems to embody the best of each, with a streak of independence and a love of helping.
Living in Chicago with TJ and his wife, Melissa, Dublin’s routine has become a daily joy. Each time she completes her self-appointed task, she’s rewarded—sometimes with her favorite treat, Fruit Loops.

Reddit users have showered her with praise, calling her “a good helper,” “a delivery pupper,” and “a useful dog.” One commenter even joked, “I hope you tip her generously,” to which TJ replied that Dublin always receives plenty of rewards for her efforts.

For TJ and Melissa, watching Dublin trot home with her chosen prize is more than just a cute quirk—it’s a heartwarming reminder of the small, extraordinary ways dogs bring happiness to everyday life. What started as a puppy’s whim has become a tradition that continues to brighten their family’s days, while now spreading joy to thousands of people online.
