After hearing about Podling from her neighbors, she could not ignore the little puppy’s desperate situation. His frail body and obvious medical issues tugged at her heartstrings immediately. Without hesitation, the woman brought Podling to the Louisiana SPCA. As soon as the staff at the shelter saw him, they realized he needed specialized care. After a thorough examination, veterinarians diagnosed Podling with a condition known as Swimmer Puppy Syndrome. This rare disorder affects a dog’s hind limbs, making it extremely difficult for them to stand or walk properly. Puppies with this syndrome often spend much of their time lying flat on the ground, unable to move around like their peers.
Although the woman who rescued Podling did not know much about his history or where he had come from, she knew one thing with certainty. This little soul needed help and she was determined to see that he received it.
