Last weekend we took a walk along the river in Historic Hastings. We pass through it on the way to and from the trial and with nice weather a walk is a Grand idea! Hastings is right on the Mississippi River. Being a nice holiday weekend, people were out and about but it wasn’t too crowded.
We stumbled across this adorable map of the area we were in. It looks just like the map, so we had to take a photo of it!
The coolest thing we found on our walk is this bicyle tree. Note the tree bark, it is made of bicycle chains and then all the bikes on top make the branches and leaves.
We saw a lot of boats on the river but none of our photos seems to have captured them. I found out I like to chase speed boats. Mom was not amused by my barking and lunging at them.
Have you ever seen a Rock Bass? Now we have. This is a cool sculpture piece along the boardwalk.
The temperature was nice but in the sun with our furs it did start to get a bit warm. Lots of panting going on.
Hastings has a really cool river otter sculpture along the river path too. Of course, we needed to stop and get a photo with him.
Going the other way on the river walk, you walk towards a dam. We decided to head that way a bit but didn’t find much to see there. This is a lookout point we did find. The photo has historic Hastings behind us.
Hope you enjoyed our little tour of Hastings along the river. It is a small town, so not a lot to see but the river right in old town has some fun stuff. We ran into this sign on the way back to the car. Mom says it looks like something the Flintstones made but she likes it. We don’t know the Flintstones, so we have no comment. Happy Friday!
We are joining our friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard is for their Nature Friday blog hop.
