Today is National Rescue Dog Day. Mom’s first dog, Trine was her one and only rescue dog. She brought home the hundred pound lab/newfie mix from the Humane Society where she had been for a couple months. No one wanted a big black dog. The people dropped her and her litter of puppies off and left. She was just over a year old when the jackpot came her way and she went home with Mom.
She was well behaved and always grateful to Mom for taking her in. Life was full of adventure moving to Germany a few years after the adoption, living in the middle, south, and north of Germany and traveling to several other countries. Trine was very pretty and a good poser too. She was good to cats and lived with several of them and a little more than a year before she passed away, she was joined by Katie, the Kuvasz puppy and they were good friends.
The lab/newfie mix was evident as she loved the water and tennis balls. She always needed two tennis balls in her mouth. Swimming in the North Sea was a favorite thing to do. She would keep swimming until Mom threw a second tennis ball to her.
After arriving home the day Trine was adopted, this photo was taken of her and Mom. It was true love on both sides. Trine passed away from pancreatic cancer in 1993 when she was about ten years old. She was a great dog and is the dog that showed Mom she needed dogs in her life. Digital cameras were not a thing in 1993, thus Mom had to scan in printed photos for this post.
