There is truly nothing more uplifting than starting a brand-new week with heartwarming baby animal content, and today’s feature is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. Meet Obi, an unbelievably adorable baby donkey who lives at Franklin Park Zoo in Boston. With his incredibly soft, fluffy coat and sweet, wide-eyed expression, Obi looks almost too perfect to be real, resembling a cuddly stuffed animal come to life. His irresistible charm and playful nature have captured the hearts of everyone who has had the joy of meeting him, both in person and online.

Earlier this year, Franklin Park Zoo shared Obi’s adorable story with the world, capturing hearts instantly.
“This most floofy baby has our hearts this New Year,” they wrote in a caption, radiating their affection for the little foal. “We cannot wait to see how much Obi grows in 2025!”
Born in August 2024, Obi is still very young, but he has already become an internet sensation. Thousands of social media users quickly fell in love with his fuzzy and enchanting appearance. Many could not resist leaving heartfelt comments about the baby donkey’s undeniable charm.
One user commented, “Welp, I have now fallen in love with ANOTHER animal. Time to create a rescue farm!” Their words perfectly captured the emotions of so many others who found themselves captivated by Obi’s incredible cuteness.
Another user added, “He looks so snuggly!” expressing what everyone was thinking as they gazed at the baby donkey’s fluffy coat.
Franklin Park Zoo also provided more insight into Obi’s remarkable features. In a previous post, they revealed that Obi belongs to a rare and distinctive breed known for their luxurious fur.
“FACT: Poitou donkey foals are impossibly cute and fluffy,” the zoo shared, giving fans a little background on Obi’s voluminous and soft appearance.

However, Obi’s story is not just one of overwhelming cuteness. It also carries a note of sadness. Shortly after his birth, Obi suffered a heartbreaking loss when his mother, Vollavon, passed away due to severe health complications.
Franklin Park Zoo explained, “This handsome fella was born at Franklin Park Zoo in August. While he grew stronger and more frisky, his mother’s health was declining due to serious conditions, including a gastric ulceration and laminitis. Despite intensive care, Vollavon’s condition continued to worsen, and the decision was made to humanely euthanize her based on the poor prognosis for her quality of life.”
Although the loss was devastating, the team at Franklin Park Zoo acted swiftly and compassionately. They made sure Obi received all the care he needed to thrive.
“But even as we mourned her heartbreaking loss, the animal team jumped into action with round-the-clock feedings and monitoring of the foal, and the veterinary team provided frequent check-ins,” they added.
Thanks to the dedication of his caretakers, Obi is now doing remarkably well. The zoo shared updates that show the baby donkey not just surviving, but thriving. In one especially adorable video, Obi can be seen playfully rolling around on the ground, covering himself in dust and looking absolutely delighted.
