Kristi never could have imagined how one dog would change her life forever. When she decided to adopt Prince, her late son’s loyal pit bull, she only wanted to give him a loving home and keep a part of her son close. Sometimes he tries to join in by jumping or pawing at her; other times he climbs right on top of her mid-stretch, convinced she is on the floor just for him. “You never know what is coming,” Kristi says, smiling. “Either he is going to jump, climb, or just smother me in kisses.” Most of the time, she gives in because those little interruptions have become her favorite part of the day.

A Bond Forged Through Loss

Their bond runs far deeper than daily routines. About a year ago, Kristi’s life was shattered when her son was killed in a tragic accident.
