Sheltie Reunites With Firefighter Who Refused to Stop Looking for Him

For several frightening minutes, six-year-old Milo had no one beside him as smoke poured through his Pasadena home. The Sheltie was alone when the fire began, and with every passing moment, the air around him became harder to breathe. By the time firefighters reached him, Milo was unconscious beneath a table, his small body limp after breathing in heavy smoke. What followed was a desperate rescue involving multiple fire departments, repeated searches through a home where visibility was nearly gone, and five agonizing minutes when no one knew whether Milo would ever open his eyes again. What should have been an ordinary stretch of time alone quickly became a life-threatening emergency. A delivery person passing the property noticed smoke coming from the home and heard Milo barking from somewhere inside. Realizing an animal was trapped, the passerby immediately called 911.
