From Trash to Treasure: Lisa’s Incredible Rescue and Recovery
Around the world, far too many dogs face cruelty and neglect, left to fend for themselves with little chance of survival. Thankfully, there are heroes who dedicate their lives to rescuing those who have been forgotten. Sabine, a rescuer from Little Steps Matter, and her colleague are two such people — and one day, they came across a sight that broke their hearts.

Despite her suffering, the dog showed no fear, only quiet acceptance, as if she had lost hope that anyone would ever help her.
Sabine and her teammate rushed to untie her, their eyes welling up as they freed the weak dog. They knew this moment marked the beginning of a new chapter — one where she would never again be left to starve or suffer.
The pup, later named Lisa, was immediately taken to a nearby vet clinic. It was clear from her condition that she had been neglected for a long time. “It was so cruel that somebody left her behind like this. They tied her up so she couldn’t run after them when they dumped her,” Sabine told The Dodo.

She was put on IV fluids and given round-the-clock care by the medical team. Within two days, they began to see a change — Lisa started wagging her tail and showing faint signs of joy.
After five days, she was strong enough to leave the clinic and move into the rescue’s safehouse. Though overwhelmed by the love and attention at first, Lisa soon realized that kindness was something she could trust. Her eyes brightened, her appetite returned, and she began to play.
Over the next several weeks, Lisa made a stunning recovery. Her fur grew back, her energy soared, and her cancer went into remission. “After spending just ten days in the shelter, this beautiful little pup completely came out of her shell,” Sabine said. “Lisa totally started to blossom and became a playful teenager with a gentle and loving nature.”

Today, Lisa is a happy, one-year-old mixed-breed pup with endless love to give. She may be shy at first, but once she knows she’s safe, her personality shines bright. “Lisa is a miracle dog, and she deserves the very best,” Sabine shared.
