For U.S. Army Specialist Jeremy Ferris, one of the most meaningful friendships of his deployment began with an unexpected encounter far from home. While serving in Jordan, he crossed paths with a stray dog named Sadie, and what started as a simple moment of kindness soon became something much deeper. During the long and stressful days of military life, Sadie offered Ferris a sense of comfort that was difficult to find anywhere else. She did not ask questions or expect anything from him.
