It’s Groundhog Day 2026 and the question is will Phil see his shadow or not? You may remember Nelson, Madison, and I visited Punxutawney, PA in December 2026 on our way to a nose work trial. The grounds were covered in ice, thus we only have photos of us one at at time. Mom didn’t want anyone to pull her causing an accident. Since it was my trial weekend, I got the honors of the big stage where Phil will be today.
Madison got to be by the entrance to the “stadium” seating with the big tall sign. Honestly, it was the best part of the whole trip seeing this place and the actual town.
Nelson took his spot by the main entrance gate. He was just a puppy, not quite eleven months old! I think he figured out early on travel would be a big part of his life as well as finding crazy things and places for photos. Being a good sport, he goes along with whatever silliness we are up to.
What is the story on this day, how did it get started. The sign explains it all.
On the way out of town, we found this mural, unfortunately, with a car parked in front of it but still photo worthy.
Finally we get back to the original question, will Phil see his shadow or not. This is the actual place where he comes outside to find out. On the day we visited there was no sun so there would have been no shadow. Today, we will see!
