A dog is supposed to be part of a family’s life for the rest of its existence when it is adopted. Understood circumstances may arise, and a pet must be rehomed. Dogs can be transported to relatives and friends in an ethical manner. We as animal lovers hope that a person who gives up their dog at a kill shelter understands that it is akin to sentencing him to death, but it happens all the time.
