Rescuers Get A Gut-Punch When They Lift Up A Dog In Box

It’s always heartbreaking to see abandoned dogs left to fend for themselves on the streets, especially when it comes to vulnerable dogs. One particular story about a small Chihuahua-mix pup deeply moved us, and we felt compelled to share it with you all. This little dog left alone and scared, had taken refuge in a small shoebox outside a house. The spot was tucked close to a building, where she likely felt a sense of relative safety. The homeowners noticed the tiny dog and, out of compassion, began to provide her with enough food each day to keep her going.

This routine continued for several weeks, during which time the homeowners reached out to two different animal shelters, hoping to find answers. Who could have abandoned such a helpless creature? That’s when Eldad Hagar and Loreta Frankonyte from Hope For Paws took on the case and began their investigation.

When they finally reached the puppy and gently lifted her from the shoebox, they made a distressing discovery: she was missing a leg. The poor dog was incredibly weak and unable to move due to her dire condition. Without hesitation, Eldad and Loreta carried her to their car and rushed her to a veterinarian for a thorough examination.

Named “Princess” by her rescuers, the little pup was found to be in a terrible state. Her body was riddled with fleas, and she was extremely dirty. The vet immediately gave her a much-needed bath, but it soon became clear that Princess faced more challenges than just a missing leg. She was also suffering from severe anemia, which made her condition even more critical. She needed intensive monitoring and care, which she thankfully received.

Over the next few weeks, Princess remained under close supervision at the vet’s office. Gradually, she began to recover, slowly regaining her strength and fighting her way back to health. Princess eventually made a full recovery, proving her incredible resilience against all odds.

Sadly, stories like Princess’s are far too common; many abandoned dogs are found in similarly desperate conditions. In this case, we may never know how Princess ended up on the streets, but it’s clear that anyone who could treat an animal with such disregard should never be allowed to care for them again.

Despite a history of violent behavior towards animals – including a widely circulated video showing his pit bull brutally mauling a helpless cat – this individual continued to harm animals without earlier intervention from law enforcement.

Fortunately, there are heroes like Eldad and Loreta who go above and beyond to rescue and care for the animals that others neglect. Their dedication deserves recognition and gratitude. Now, Princess is in safe hands, and that’s what truly matters. We can only hope she finds her forever home filled with the love and care she deserves.
