A busy road in Changchun became the backdrop for a deeply moving scene that few expected to witness. Seven dogs of different breeds walked closely together, their pace steady yet filled with uncertainty. They moved through traffic and along the roadside, occasionally stopping to look at passing strangers as if hoping for help or recognition. There was something striking about their unity and quiet determination. According to reports, the dogs had been stolen by individuals linked to a dog meat operation. They were taken away in a truck, far from the safety of their homes. Somehow, the group managed to escape. What followed was a remarkable journey back.

A Journey Fueled by Instinct and Loyalty

The dogs traveled nearly 17 kilometers, that’s more than 10 miles, over two days. Among them were a German Shepherd with visible injuries, a small Corgi, Golden Retrievers, Labradors, and a Pekingese. Despite their differences in size and strength, they stayed together the entire time.

A local resident named Lu was among the first to notice them. He described their movement as synchronized and purposeful. To him, they did not look like strays. They looked like a family trying to find their way back.

Lu attempted to guide them to safety several times. He approached gently, hoping they might follow him away from danger. But the dogs refused to stop. They kept walking, focused and determined, as if they already knew where they needed to go.

Their bond became even more evident as they crossed fields and roads. Witnesses along the way shared similar observations. The dogs stayed close, never leaving one another behind, even with one injured among them.

It was later revealed that the dogs all came from the same village. They often played together before the incident, which explained their strong connection during the journey. Their familiarity with one another likely gave them comfort and courage in an uncertain situation.

By March 18, just two days after their escape, all seven dogs had successfully returned home.
