At first glance, Comando hardly looks like the newest recruit for a demanding search and rescue role. The 13-month-old Chihuahua stands just about 8 inches tall and weighs roughly 15 pounds, making him easy to miss beside the much larger working dogs typically seen with Mexico’s National Guard. Yet when Comando arrived for a recent training session in Mexico City wearing protective goggles, a fitted tactical vest, and a tiny camera on his head, the little dog showed that courage and determination do not necessarily come in a large package. Footage from his training quickly captured attention online, showing the tiny Chihuahua tackling stairs and obstacles with enthusiasm.
