Peanut had been left in a place where no puppy should ever have to struggle for survival. When 85-year-old Karl Korff learned that the young dog had been abandoned on an ant hill in Clovis, New Mexico, he went to help her. What he found was heartbreaking. Peanut had strips of hair missing, painful scabs covered her small body, and her damaged skin showed just how much she had endured. Yet beneath her injuries was a puppy still holding on, quietly looking toward the person who had come to rescue her.
