A routine air conditioning repair turned into a frightening ordeal for a Florida family when their tiny senior dog was allegedly harmed inside the place where he should have been safest. Boomer, a 12-year-old Chihuahua weighing just 5 pounds, was home with another dog while an HVAC technician worked at the family’s Sanford residence on Aug. 24, 2026. What his owners expected to be an ordinary service visit took a disturbing turn when a pet monitoring camera captured an encounter that would soon lead to an arrest. Boomer’s owner, Ryan Menzies, said his wife was watching the camera feed when she noticed the little Chihuahua approach the worker. According to the Sanford Police Department, footage captured the technician kicking Boomer with enough force to knock the small dog unconscious. The dog was then left alone for several seconds after the alleged attack. For Boomer’s family, seeing what happened was devastating.
