Not every dog gets a safe start in life. Some are abandoned before they’ve even had the chance to know what love feels like. Ellie and Jett were two of those dogs until compassionate rescuers stepped in, refusing to let their story end in tragedy. These young shepherd mixes are two of the 22 dogs preparing to leave Texas on iHeartDogs’ August Rescue Road Trip. Their destination is Colorado, where waiting shelters, rescue partners, foster families, and adopters have the space to give them the fresh start they couldn’t find at home. A Heartbreaking Beginning When Bosque Animal Rescue Kennels (BARK) received a plea from Drowzy Dawg Rescue, the situation was already tragic. Three young puppies had been abandoned in Grandview, Texas. Before help could arrive, one of them was struck by a vehicle and lost his life.
