Weather can be weird, especially if the weather is all messed up. One thing Mom and I don’t like seeing is the green pond scum. This time of year, the water on smaller bodies of water is all covered in green and it sure looks nasty. Right now, even a lot of beaches on the lakes around the area are closed because of high bacteria levels. I’m definitely not putting my paws in that water!
Walking with Mom at Gramma’s last weekend, I spotted a big rabbit sitting in the grass about twenty feet ahead of me. This is my stalking pose. Mom didn’t have time to get a shot of the rabbit but it ran off pretty fast.
Humans and dogs are not the only creatures with stress levels up a bit right now. Nature can be weird and we think making trees partially turn color because of stress is rather cruel. We have seen several trees now with the fall/summer leaf combo.
Sometimes Mom can be cruel too. This is an example of her cruelty. She says we need to carry this sign when we walk because I walk way too slow. It is only when I walk alone with Mom. If Nelson is along, I keep up just fine. To my defense, I do have some arthritis. Maybe it bothers me more when I am alone and don’t have Nelson to distract me?
There are some pretty, bright flowers still in bloom.
Finally, I leave you in a fog. It seems almost every early morning walk we have either thick fog like this or smoke from Canada. Such a bummer but every day we get closer to winter, and we can’t wait!
I’m joining my friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard for their Nature Friday blog hop.
