When little Hope was born in Quebec, Canada, she weighed only two ounces—so small she could fit in the palm of a hand. Veterinarians diagnosed her with dwarfism and warned Rodney Mclean, her devoted caretaker, that she likely wouldn’t survive more than 48 hours. The news was heartbreaking, and Rodney braced himself for the worst.
