Shelter Takes In a Breed They Don’t See Every Day, and She’s 99 Pounds of Fluff

Animal shelters welcome dogs of every imaginable shape, size, and background, but every once in a while, someone walks through the doors who makes even experienced rescue workers take notice. At Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League in West Palm Beach, Florida, that someone recently arrived in the form of 99 pounds of fur named Ruby. Ruby is a 4-year-old Tibetan Mastiff, a breed the shelter doesn’t encounter very often. Beneath all that impressive fluff, however, staff members say they’ve discovered a gentle, intelligent dog who already knows quite a few things about being a very good girl. According to the shelter, Ruby was born in Poland and purchased as a puppy. She recently entered the shelter through no fault of her own, leaving this unusual arrival looking for a family ready to begin her next chapter. And while her enormous coat may be the first thing people notice, Ruby apparently has plenty more going for her.
